ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday emphatically denied any potential delay in next general elections, saying it had already stated its position on the matter.

In a statement released here, the ECP through its spokesperson clarified that the impression of election postponement had been sparked by comments made by President Dr Arif Alvi during an interview with a private television on Wednesday.

The ECP stated that, as per the election action plan, all the necessary preparations by the ECP had been concluded, and the election schedule would be revealed after the constituencies were formally published. There was no uncertainty in this regard, it added.

The initial phase of the delimitations had concluded, and the second phase involving objection submissions would finish by Friday, October 27, the ECP added.

The ECP will commence the review of objections related to preliminary constituencies on October 30-31 and by November 30, 2023, the final list of constituencies will be officially released.
